TAKE NOTE: Celebrate the Launch of the Heart of Huntingdon Campaign
College and Church in Partnership
United Methodist higher education, in the tradition set forth by John Wesley, strives to be accessible to all who harbor a desire to learn and to grow in wisdom and service. To that end, Huntingdon offers several United Methodist scholarships and grants to make a great college education affordable to all Methodist youth.
The Cross & Flame Grant
The Cross & Flame Grant is awarded to full-time traditional undergraduate students who are active members (for a period of at least one year prior to the first day of enrollment and recommended by Methodist clergy) of the United Methodist Church, the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion (AME Zion) Church, or the Christian Methodist (CME) Church. The grant is renewable for up to three additional years of study (some restrictions may apply) and generally cannot be combined with other Huntingdon College scholarships or grants. Entering first-year or transfer students are eligible for this grant. To apply for the Cross & Flame Grant, your pastor must submit the Clergy Referral Form to the Huntingdon College Office of Admission by mailing to the address at the bottom of the form or by email at admission@hawks.tou18.com. See the current list of Institutional Scholarships and Awards for up-to-date information on this grant.
Dollars for Scholars
The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation (UMHEF) provides a $1,000 matching scholarship to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. This scholarship is matched two ways: by the sponsoring church, who must remit a check payable to UMHEF for $1,000 with a completed application form; and by Huntingdon College through the Cross and Flame Scholarship or other equivalent scholarship. Candidates must be enrolled or enrolling as full-time students in a United Methodist-related college, university, or seminary, and be active members of the UMC for at least one year. For an application or more information, contact UMHEF, P.O. Box 340005, Nashville, TN 37203-0005; http://www.umhef.org.
United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Fund
The United Methodist Church, through the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry, offers scholarships to full-time United Methodist students. Applications are available from the General Board in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, the United Methodist Student Loan fund, the oldest student loan fund in America, provides low-interest loans.
