President Leigh Welcomed to Flomaton High by Alumni Educator

Montgomery, AL – On Wednesday, September 11, Huntingdon President Anthony Leigh continued his celebration of the Year of the Educator by guest teaching the 12th grade U.S. government class of Khalil Nettles ‘23 at Flomaton High School. Prior to his service at Huntingdon, President Leigh had a ten-year career in state and federal government roles.

Mr. Nettles couldn’t have been happier to welcome one of his Huntingdon mentors to his classroom. “Several of my friends at Huntingdon took Dr. Leigh’s political science class and they all said he was a great teacher. He was so engaging with my students and used his experience working in government to make an awesome lesson. He was a great encourager and mentor for me at Huntingdon, and I am so glad my students could meet him.”

President Leigh was impressed with Flomaton students and enjoyed the visit to South Alabama. “What a treat to see first-hand a young Huntingdon alumnus applying wisdom in service in such a meaningful way. I’m proud of Khalil! Flomaton High School and all of the schools in Escambia County have sent some great students to Huntingdon through the years. I met a whole senior class full of great Huntingdon prospects today. Anytime I can speak with politically-interested students, I don’t miss the opportunity to point out the tremendous number of political internships and experiences that are available to Huntingdon students because of our location in Alabama’s capital city.”

Huntingdon College, grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition of the United Methodist Church, is committed to nurturing growth in faith, wisdom, and service and to graduating individuals prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Founded in 1854, Huntingdon is a coeducational liberal arts college.
